John P. Kalashian

Dr. Kalashian was born in Massachusetts and moved to Central Florida at an early age when his father took a job in the frozen orange juice industry as an engineer and plant superintendent. (The family had owned a regional ice cream manufacturing and distribution business in Massachusetts, so he was well versed in managing the large cooling systems needed in the growing orange juice concentrate business.) After several years his father returned to the dairy business when he accepted a job working for Sealtest Ice Cream as a Plant Manager in Daytona Beach, upon which the family relocated to that city.

Dr. Kalashian's teen years were spent in Daytona working part-time jobs and graduating from Seabreeze High School. While attending Daytona Beach Junior College (now Daytona State College), he worked in an area grocery stores to pay tuition. After receiving his Associates (A.A.) degree he transferred to Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he received Bachelor (B.A.), Master (M.A) and Specialist (Ed.S) degrees. His academic journey was completed at the University Central Florida, where he earned a Doctor of Education (Ed. D) degree.
