Evaluation

The program was evaluated using an ordered sample of 400 students over a period of five years. The ethnic composition consisted of 70% European origin, 20% African American, and 10% Americans of Central and South American heritage. There was not a measurable percentage of Indigenous Americans or Americans of Asian descent attending the school.  The program yielded 70.1%success rate.

Program Goals

The difference between the S.E.L.F. program and others is the emphasis on emotional growth. As you work through this program you will see the progression from external rewards to internal rewards. It is easy for you to encourage self-rewarding using certain vocabulary and assisting the child in building an emotive vocabulary. Examples of encouraging self-reward is to use GOOD JOB instead of good person, use of the word EARN instead of GIVE, and by telling the student how PROUD you are of the accomplishment and verbalizing that the student must be proud too.
